From 2024’s Foundation to 2025’s Vision for Smarter Crypto Investing
We are proud to look back on 2024 as the year Thane was born. In May, we officially founded Thane with a clear purpose: make on-chain more accessible. Like many in the crypto space, we feel that the age of centralized exchanges is drawing to a close, yet on-chain remains cumbersome for anyone who can’t devote hours each day to crypto. We believe there’s a better way.
Early Wins and Lessons Learned
With our vision in mind, we launched the very first version of Thane — a Telegram mini-app designed to make it easy for users to buy and sell coins across multiple chains and tap into yield opportunities. To spark early interest while our main app was still in beta, we added a fun game element — daily crypto quizzes and quests — which helped us build a waitlist of over 8,500 users.
Seeing such interest in our app was a major win. It allowed us to gather a group of engaged beta testers and capture valuable feedback early on. There’s no better time to experiment than when you’re small and nimble, and we were able to learn some tough but incredibly valuable lessons along the way.
Although our seamless on-chain usability hit the mark, the overall experience just wasn’t exciting enough. Feedback from around 160 early users showed how challenging it could be to maintain continuous engagement. Rather than rushing to scale, we chose to invest in creating a more distinctive, high-value product — one that, when combined with our core features, would truly stand out.
Thane’s Approach to Social Investing
While on-chain execution can be complex, for many the real challenge begins even earlier. The crypto space is overwhelming: new meme coins, AI Agent tokens, and countless other projects seem to appear daily — generating FOMO even among seasoned investors. For newcomers, it can feel nearly impossible to keep up.
In pursuit of the next breakout opportunity, many look to influencers. Yet it’s tough to distinguish genuine experts from those pushing questionable deals. Scams, hidden incentives, and a general lack of robust verification tools leave both beginners and veterans feeling wary. Unsurprisingly, 86% of their tips on platforms like X lead to financial losses. Worse still, because of the space’s complexity, especially newbies have a real struggle to verify these recommendations on their own.
Toward the end of last year, we recognized this gap and shifted our focus to helping users cut through the noise and invest smarter. That’s where Thane’s social investing experience comes in. Beyond streamlining the crypto buying and selling process, we help users discover the most promising opportunities by helping them validate influencers and their recommendations.
From a user’s perspective, you’ll finally see exactly how an influencer’s past recommendations have performed. Rather than juggling multiple platforms, you can seamlessly execute your trades within Thane, where transactions are automatically routed for optimal on-chain efficiency. Meanwhile, influencers gain an easy way to prove their credibility, share trades, and guide their communities toward smarter decisions.
What’s Next?
We’re nearly ready to launch the first version where we’ll highlight the performance of a select group of influencers by compiling the coins they’ve shilled on X. After collecting feedback, we’ll open the platform to everyone, allowing influencers to build their own profiles, connect wallets, or manually post their moves. They can even reserve certain details for subscribers — ideal for private or paid groups.
With the foundation in place, our focus will shift toward growth — expanding the platform’s capabilities, onboarding more users, and enhancing the tools and features to create an unrivaled social investing experience. This is just the beginning of our journey, and we’re excited to work with the community to shape the future of on-chain investing.
