Introducing Thane

We’re building Thane with the mission to make it easy for everyone to participate and invest in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. Currently in Beta as a Telegram Mini App, Thane enables users to trade and invest across multiple Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains seamlessly with support for Solana, TON and Stacks coming soon, all within the Telegram interface. We’ve onboarded our first 50 users this week and already received valuable insights that help us further build out Thane.

Key Principles of Thane and First Learnings from Our Beta

  1. Full Custody of Assets: Thane empowers users to retain full control over their crypto assets, enhancing security and reducing risks associated with centralized exchanges. While seed phrases are standard in DeFi, our Beta has shown that many new users struggle with this concept. This feedback highlights the need for a more user-friendly approach that maintains self-custody while improving accessibility.
  2. Streamlined Workflows: Thane manages technical details behind the scenes, enabling users to focus on trading and investing without worrying about underlying complexities and managing multiple dApps. Initial feedback highlights the need to further simplify chain and gas concepts to create a seamless experience, particularly for users new to crypto.
  3. Safe Participation Made Easy: By prescreening all underlying partners, Thane ensures a safe and confident experience in the DeFi space for users.

How to Sign Up for Thane

Thane will remain in Beta for the next few months. Although in Beta, everything happens with real crypto assets and on mainnet. Once we’ve gathered sufficient feedback, added more features, and successfully completed our audit and pen-testing, Thane will be made available to all users.

To help us build something truly valuable, we’d love to receive your feedback. If you’d like to participate in the Beta, follow these steps:

Request Beta Access:

  • Open the Thane Mini App in Telegram.
  • Click on “Start” and then select “Request Beta Access.”
  • You will receive a confirmation message once your beta access is granted.

Using Thane: A Step-by-Step Guide

Open the App:

  • After receiving Beta access, click on “Open App” within the @ThaneOfficialBot chat window to launch Thane.

Create or Import a Wallet:

  • You will be presented with two options: Create Wallet or Import Existing Wallet. For this guide, we will create a new wallet.
  • Click on “Create Wallet,” then acknowledge that you understand the importance of the recovery phrase by clicking “I understand.”
  • You will receive a 24-word recovery phrase. It is crucial to store this phrase securely, as it is essential for recovering your account.
  • This seed phrase acts like a master password, giving you full access to your account and any wallets within it. This approach is common in the crypto world and ensures that you have complete control over your assets without having to trust a third party.

Set Up a PIN:

  • After saving your seed phrase, click “Continue” and create a 4-digit PIN code for added security.

Access Your Wallet:

  • You will then see your deposit address, which you can use to fund your wallet.

Once inside the Thane app, you can manage your assets effectively. Here’s how to navigate the app:

View Your Assets:

  • Click on “Home” to view your Crypto portfolio and manage wallet actions such as receiving & sending of crypto assets.

Deposit Funds:

  • Click on “Receive Crypto” to view your wallet address.
  • Select the cryptocurrency you want to deposit. You will see a QR code and wallet address to send your funds.
  • Ensure you select the correct chain for your deposit to avoid any potential loss of funds.
  • We will soon add a fiat deposit option; for now, you will need to deposit crypto assets from an external wallet.
  • After sending the funds, they will arrive in your Thane wallet.

Swapping Made Simple:

  • On your “Home” screen or the “Markets” page, click on the crypto assets you wish to swap.
  • Indicate whether you want to buy or sell the selected asset.
  • Alternatively, go directly to the trading page by clicking “Swap” or the T button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Enter the details and confirm the swap.
  • Enter your PIN and wait for the transaction to complete.

From a user perspective, the experience is the same whether you swap within one chain or perform a cross-chain swap. Thane currently supports trading on the following six EVM chains: Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain

Future plans include adding support for additional chains such as Solana, TON and Stacks. Thane integrates with decentralized exchanges (DEXes) and bridging services to facilitate these swaps. Instead of having to directly access the dApps, Thane routes the transaction on behalf of the user, ensuring a smooth and efficient trading experience.

How Can You Use Thane Today?

This is the first version of Thane, and while many new functionalities and improvements in UI/UX are on the way, even now, Thane can make DeFi access easier. Most of us get our crypto news directly from Telegram — why not execute trades right through Telegram? Instead of having to go to your desktop, connect your wallet, and navigate to a dApp, you can simply perform trades via Thane directly in Telegram. This seamless integration allows for a more convenient and efficient trading experience, making DeFi accessible to everyone.

Next Steps

Thane offers a user-friendly gateway to the DeFi world, allowing users to trade and manage their crypto assets with ease and security.
